- this should surprise no one, but i want an iphone. bear in mind that i pay nothing for my phone, i barter the (small, part of one of those family-plan thingys) bill with my parents for other services rendered. so i'd be trading something that costs nothing, and is functional (if ugly), for something that costs $500 plus untold amounts per month. and i will be first in line for it, i promise. a major reason for this, of course, is my communications habits. personally, i'm not really one for talking on the phone to begin with. this will come as a big shock to those who know me, but it's true, i swear. email, though, that i use incessantly, and more relevantly, i use email like most people use their phone. and sure, there exist solutions for that at present, but looking at them next to this thing, i think it's fair to say that they have as yet not been as compelling as this thing looks. june, eh?

- the question of the day is, is david beckham going to make soccer popular in the us? i don't know. i'm guessing not, not by himself. as someone who did, back in the day, actually go to nasl games, i remember a time when soccer was kind of a big deal in the us, only to have it followed by a long drought when it wasn't. i do question the financial aspects of the deal; it makes the red sox' pursuit of daisuke matsuzaka seem downright frugal by comparison, after all, and it's out of character for a league which has been characterized thus far by fiscal discipline and patience. but apparently, a thousand or so season tickets were sold today, and that's a significant number of existing fans buying in, and maybe a few new ones, too. and if the wilder speculation from the tabloids is true, maybe there's more to come.

- the nth redesign of the site is complete. 'cause i was bored on the plane, and had a new copy of adobe illustrator to abuse.
