the cold light of day

there's something about the sun in the winter
even if it's technically fall
on the absurdly clear days
it takes some time to get used to the idea
that it won't warm you

not in the least

even as i rode into the sun on the mass. ave
bridge and out of the shade of the back bay
i felt like it should be getting warmer
instead it was just more wind

there's a reason i don't ride in the cold

but it's a useful reminder that our little planet
is a warm exception in a generally
cold universe
