winter scaryland

something about lightning and thunder during a snowstorm just feels wrong. the flashes are whiter, brighter, and the thunder is more shockingly loud since everything’s supposed to be quiet. it feels very ‘day after tomorrow’-like, for some reason; scary, like it’s the weather saying “don’t underestimate me, jerk-ass”. or maybe i just found it more intimidating since i was wielding a metal snow shovel at the time.

the trip into work was uneventful, although a downed tree nearly blocked US 20 in weston. even maynard did a better-than-usual job of plowing, which is to say that there wasn’t a transition from a packed inch to an unruly 3 inches at the town line, as is often the case.

i was told to stay home today, but it’s entirely possible that something will need to get done promptly, so i figured i may as well be here in case it does. maybe i’ll even get something done.
