no rest for the wicked awesome

sometime this week, frantic work just kinda stopped. mainly because it was done, but it’s kinda like running a long race and then walking again, it just feels a little odd.

fortunately, everything outside of work continues at the same pace, which makes things simpler.

for someone who doesn’t actually commute into the city for work, i spend a ridiculous amount of time on the t these days. i actually have a ‘t’ category set up in spendthrift just so it gets a slice on the pie chart.

at this time last year, i had no red sox tickets. this year i have tickets for three games. notice i have not yet used the word ‘seats’. but i don’t care. things are looking up, goddammit.

i got my laptop back. she’s so clean it’s like having a new one. but the hexachrome apple sticker is still on the lid, so that’s good. the iphone stood in admirably for over two weeks (and proved its worth as a swiss army knife of information yet again yesterday), but it’s generally just the consuming half of the computing equation—its ability to help create is limited, even if it doesn’t stop me from trying.

i’m leaving for england tomorrow night. a whole week off (yes, that’s half my vacation days for the year). four soccer matches in six days (at bolton, everton, reading, and fulham). i feel like i haven’t gone anywhere in far too long, haven’t pointed my camera at anything that isn’t boston in forever. it’s not entirely true, mind you, but i’m looking forward to lousy weather, crappy food, driving on the wrong side of the road, pint after pint, and singing, singing, singing.
