the man-machine

suz and i ran the james joyce ramble 10k. last year, i think most of us who ran it thought it was a tough race, with some persistent and/or steep hills in the 2nd, 4th, and 5th miles. those hills were a surprise to us last year, and a most unpleasant one; it was also a warm, sunny day. today was cloudy, damp, and cool, and somehow those hills didn't seem so daunting. suz and i ran six straight miles under ten minutes, and for me, at least, that's probably the best 10k i've run. so that was a good start to the day. now i need to eat some stuff, 'cause my ipod tells me i burned 950 calories. it really feels good to actually have everything working well; so many times when i start to get past 3 miles, things so often start reminding me that i'm not so young anymore. rare is the kind of groove when you feel like your abused body is still able to hum along efficiently, and it feels good.

it's been another long week, other than that. there's not much to report. work eat sleep. next week will be more interesting. the 48-hour film project is next weekend.
